AIM: Addressing barriers to effective M&E Systems

After working for more than a decade within the field of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Insideout has collaborated with IT experts to form eThamini. eThamini aim to address some common barriers to effective monitoring practice faced by many development organizations and government departments. These include, among others:

  • M&E is seen as an anxiety-provoking burden believed to police staff/organizations;

  • Limited M&E skills within organizations:
    • Few training opportunities for all staff responsible for M&E due to the high cost of M&E training workshops;

    • High staff turnover resulting in M&E skills gaps which cannot immediately be filled;

  • Uncoordinated, cumbersome documenting and reporting systems which result in poor tracking and reporting on progress;

  • Limited opportunities for mentoring and support to those responsible for M&E.

Innovative Monitoring & Evaluation Solutions

eThamini offers a comprehensive and innovative Monitoring and Evaluation solution, making M&E more accessible and easy to use by employing the latest technology and programming tools available to address some key barriers to effective M&E systems. More on Who We Are

Testimonials from Past Participants

I think [the Introduction to M&E] online course is very good! I believe the online course is the new way of training: the content is good and it uses practical examples, and your own M&E framework builder. It is an outcome based course that you can apply to any field. You've got a winning product!

Johann Krynauw, Deputy Director: Strategic Planning & Reporting Directorate Strategic Services & Communication

What I liked most was the use of examples right through the modules. I could relate you them and could follow the application of the concepts easily. M&E is new to me and the course helped me to understand M&E. It is exciting!
